Another series we’re excited about arriving in December is Netflix’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice. The six-part series is written by bestselling author and screenwriter Dolly Alderton and directed by Euros Lyn. It stars Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy.
Also starring alongside the pair are the iconic Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell, Freya Mavor, Jamie Demetriou, Daryl McCormack, Rhea Norwood, Siena Kelly and Louis Partridge.
The series tells the story of headstrong Elizabeth Bennet, whose mother is determined to marry off her five daughters to secure their financial future. When the wealthy and genial Mr Bingley arrives in the neighbourhood, he quickly falls for Elizabeth’s older sister, Jane.
However, Elizabeth clashes with Bingley’s arrogant and wealthy friend, Mr Darcy. As their paths continue to cross, the pair must overcome their own personality flaws to discover their mutual affection, amidst societal pressures, family scandals and misunderstandings.
Yorkshire filming location for Netflix’s ‘Pride & Prejudice’

Harewood House in Yorkshire serves as the backdrop for Pemberley, the grand country estate owned by Fitzwilliam Darcy. Its historic architecture, built between 1759 and 1771, helps capture Mr Darcy’s wealth and refinement.
“We are delighted to be sharing this beloved British classic with our global audience. Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate romantic comedy,” Netflix executive Mona Qureshi said when the project was first announced.
“Dolly’s fierce intelligence and enormous heart, twinned with her genuine love of the Austen novel, mean she is able to bring new insights, whilst celebrating all that generations of fans hold so dear. The calibre of a cast led by Emma, Jack and Olivia is a testament to this precious story being in the best possible hands, with Euros Lyn and the team at Lookout Point at the helm.”
Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice premieres on 3 December.
