It’s one of the most fun parts of the festive season, after all, and something I – among many other Christmas lovers – look forward to every single year. And while we’re not prejudiced when it comes to Christmas trees, there’s something magical about heading off on an adventure to pick-your-own fresh one – with plenty of farms in God’s Own Country to potter around. On the hunt for a new tree this year to spruce up your Christmas decor game?
1. Woolley Edge Christmas Tree Farm, Wakefield

Established and grown from the roots up, our family Christmas Tree Farm has been the start of Christmas for many people across and beyond the borders of West Yorkshire. The farm offers fresh-cut trees along with the option to take a wander and pick your own in their Christmas tree plantation. They also have a fantastic decoration shop to go along with your new tree.
Home to a number of reindeer, Woolley Edge is the perfect place to get into the festive spirit, with tons of high-quality, bushy trees to choose from. Loved for its family-friendly atmosphere, visitors can also browse their twinkling selection of Christmas decorations, as well as visit Santa on his sleigh before picking the perfect tree for their home.
2. York Christmas Trees

York Christmas Trees is located at Wigginton Lodge, Wigginton Road, York, YO32 2RH.

Not only is York Christmas Trees family-friendly, but the Christmas tree wonderland is dog-friendly, too. Boasting competitive prices real Christmas trees in Yorkshire including both pre-picked and pick-your-own trees available to choose from, the venue is the perfect place to kit out your home this Christmas – with tons of gorgeous decorations to shop, too.
These guys supplied the tree for 10 Downing Street and are open from Thursday 24th November to Saturday 24th December. You can check out turn up and check out The Tree Barn where packed full of bushy wreaths and trees, as well as colourful shiny decorations hand-picked to add a festive flair to any household this year. Or, you can choose your tree online and either arrange a click&collect or arrange delivery. Feeling adventurous why not Pick Your Own from the field – this option needs online booking.
3. The Billingley Christmas Tree Farm, Barnsley

Known as one of Yorkshire’s best spots for Christmas tree picking, Billingley Christmas Tree Farm is home to tens of thousands of trees, with a fantastic festive atmosphere to enjoy during the visit. Open Daily from mid-November with a huge choice of quality real Christmas trees ranging from 3ft to 30ft. You can pick a ready-cut one from the barn or pick your own. They also have a speciality Christmas decoration shop to top it off you can visit Santa in his secret cabin.
In addition to trees, guests can pop and see the reindeer, and shop for an array of beautiful Christmas decorations to dress up their tree with.
4. Methley Estate Christmas Tree Farm, Leeds

Found at the lovely Methley Estate, the Christmas tree farm is one of Yorkshire’s most well-loved – with bags of festive spirit to enjoy. Chop down your own tree or choose a big, bushy one from the Barn, enjoy hot chocolates and cakes, or, go Christmas crazy by shopping the lovely gifts and decorations available.
5. Hull Christmas Trees

One of East Yorkshire’s best spots for Christmas trees, Hull Christmas Trees sources thousands of perfect trees, making sure all customers get that picture-perfect look when picking a tree at their barn.
In addition to trees, guests can also shop beautiful wreaths and pomanders, with plenty of stunning decorations to enjoy.
6. Scampston Estate, Malton

Found at Malton’s beautiful Scampston Hall, the Christmas Tree farm is the perfect place to visit at Christmas – not only because it’s fabulously festive, but because the hall is absolutely beautiful, too.
Grown in the estate’s Walled Garden, each tree is lovingly grown and replaced as soon as it’s picked, making the choice to shop with Scampston Hall a sustainable one.
In addition to tree picking, guests can enjoy an array of festive events – including a Christmas Fair located in the Victorian conservatory, and a drive-in festive firework display to enjoy the week before Christmas.
7. Bawtry Forest Christmas Tree, Doncaster

Bawtry Forest Christmas Trees can be found on the outskirts of Doncaster at Great N Rd, Bawtry, Doncaster, DN10 6DG.
What makes it so special? 🌲
One of the largest suppliers of real Christmas trees in Yorkshire, Bawtry Forest Christmas Trees houses thousands of stunning trees, with both hefty Norway Spruce trees to choose from and your more typical Nordmann Fir trees, too.
Elsewhere at the barn, guests can get plenty of Christmas shopping done, with tons of Christmas gifts, handmade wreaths, tree lights, hand-decorated glass baubles and much more on offer at the ‘Bauble Barn’.
Once you’re done, kick back with a mulled wine and a mince pie, with tons of festive hot drinks to try, too.
8. Highfield Christmas Tree Farm, Selby

Visit Highfield Christmas Tree Farm at Highfield Farm, Westfield Ln, Kirk Smeaton, WF8 3LT.

A wonderful festive experience for all the family, Highfield Farm not only offers fantastic Christmas trees but visits with Santa’s sleigh and a farm full of donkeys. Set to open 19th November, Highfield Christmas Trees is a real Christmas tree farm, based in Kirk Smeaton, between Pontefract and Doncaster. You can make a day out with donkey rides, festive cabins with decorations, a pop-up cafe every weekend and of course fresh farm-grown and pot-grown Christmas trees.
Elsewhere at the farm, guests can also expect a cabin filled with Christmas decorations, and a number of new Christmas attractions, especially for 2021 – including Father Christmas himself!
9. Stockeld Park, Wetherby

In addition to growing over half a million Christmas trees on the estate spanning 250 acres, Stockeld Park also hosts a number of fabulous festive events for the family to enjoy, alongside a wonderful gift shop stocked full of beautiful decorations and gifts.
Elsewhere on the estate, guests can explore the Enchanted Forest, ponder around the Winter Illuminations, get lost in the Snowflake Maze or try their hand at ice skating, before kicking back at the Woodland Cafe for hot pizza, hot chocolates and other wintery treats.
10. Newsholme Christmas Tree

A family-run business that provides homegrown quality Christmas Trees from their farm. You can handpick a tree from the field or collect a ready-cut one from the tree barn. Newsholme also offers a click-and-collect option with delivery through their website.
They will be opening every day from the 20th of November till Christmas with the return of our Festive Open Weekend on the 20th and 21st of November.
11. Christmas Trees Yorkshire

Christmas Trees Yorkshire is helping those struggling with the cost of living but wanting real Christmas trees in Yorkshire with a red ribbon day. ten trees will be marked up in the field between 5ft and 7ft and will be sold at the fixed price of £27.50. The quality and freshness are guaranteed and are in the field growing with the rest of the trees.
We believe that this gives our customers a helping hand in budgeting their Xmas whilst other costs may have increased. They’re also offering a PYO Christmas Tree option this year. Pick your Own will be available from Saturday 27th November to Tuesday 20th December 2022.
