A Luxury Spa & Wellness Hotel Is Opening On The Yorkshire Coast

The popular Raithwaite hotel at Sandsend is undergoing a whopping rebrand, bringing a brand new luxury hotel to the Yorkshire coast.

Named after its unique location between ‘the wild North Sea’ [Salt] and the ‘heather-draped moors’ [moore], the new chapter in Raithwaite’s history will see Saltmoore take the reigns, transforming the stunning estate into a luxurious wellness retreat – a welcome addition to the underrated Yorkshire coast.

Receiving a £10 million cash infusion to transform the property, Saltmoore will consist of 72 bedrooms split across two properties – the main hall becoming Saltmoore House, a 43-bedroom hotel which will house the state-of-the-art spa, a luxurious offering complete with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room, cryo-chamber, jacuzzi and an array of treatment rooms.

The 19th-century estate is set to be completely reimagined ahead of its September 2024 re-opening, with O’Shea Group and Galliard Homes at the helm – two construction groups who’ve previously collaborated on a number of high-end London developments.

In addition to the spa, Saltmoore will also be home to four dining options, including a fine-dining restaurant, a brasserie, an outdoor champagne terrace and a wellness cafe – with sustainability at the core of the hotel’s ethos.

The hotel will utilise local suppliers and take a farm-to-fork approach for its culinary experiences, using only seasonal ingredients and reducing waste where possible. Expect North Yorkshire’s finest produce on offer, alongside dishes representing the rugged, yet beautiful landscape surrounding the estate.

Rooms will be decked out with luxury furnishings, with some rooms complete with balconies, roll top bathtubs and four-poster beds – all with the benefit of residing close by to beautiful Sandsend and Whitby.

In addition to Saltmoore House, the estate will also open The Beach House – a 29-bedroom hotel – complete with dog-friendly accommodation, family-friendly rooms, and cottage rooms; some complete with outdoor tubs and private gardens.

Activity-wise, expect cold water swimming in the picturesque lake, kayaking and cycling, to name a few.

Saltmoore opens this September, and you can find out more here. Rates start at £182.50 and bookings are open now.
