When it comes to getting creative for date night, in The Yorkshireman’s household, it goes as far as putting on a pair of nice socks, a (mostly) ironed shirt and swapping our bog-standard Friday night freezer pizza for some proper grub at a proper restaurant. And hey, our lass might even get a nice glass of Prosecco if she plays her cards right, too.
But what if we told you we could now do one even better? Kinda like a Maldives-in-Hull situation (or at least, as close at it’ll ever get), popular aquarium The Deep has launched an incredible new private dining experience – and trust us when we say, it makes for the perfect date night.

Serving up dinner with the best views in the house, guests can now book out private areas of the aquarium after hours, sitting front and centre while some of the aquarium’s most fascinating creatures swim on past just a matter of metres away.
From the popular shark tank to The Deep’s fantastic walk-through tunnel – which gives sights of creatures such as exotic fish and stunning sting ray – guests are treated to a 5-course meal (package dependent), alongside cocktails, Prosecco, and an exclusive view of the aquarium while no one else is around.

Offered in collaboration with award-winning restaurant Rupert & Darwin, each dish is as stunning as the next, with a sample menu packed full of tasty dishes such as Tartare of Waterford Farm Beef Fillet, Braised Ox Cheek and Pan-seared Fillet of Red Bream giving a fantastic example of what guests can expect from the experience (AKA, not your typical burger and chips with a pint of Carlsberg!).
Changing seasonally, guests can expect the finest produce with each and every plate, beautifully presented to amplify the experience.
Currently, The Deep offers three areas for private dining – including The Tunnel, Endless Oceans and Cool Seas, with each providing a unique view that can’t be found anywhere else.

Here’s a little bit about each area:
At Endless Oceans, expect to dine with a variety of sharks and rays, including White tip reef sharks, Nurse shark, Grey reef sharks, Zebra sharks, Honeycomb whiptail rays and Green sawfish, as well as a pair of rescued Loggerhead sea turtles who like to sashay through the waters.
At The Tunnel, guests will get to enjoy sights of sharks and sting rays as they glide overhead, as well as a variety of rare and exotic fish that vary in size, colour and shape. Perfect for those oohs and aahs as they pass by!
At Cool Seas, diners will see the fantastic species that call the colder waters home – including jelly fish, ancient nautilus, and a number of bizarre species of fish you may have never seen anywhere else.
Available to book now for tables of 2-6 people, prices for The Deep’s private dining experience start at £300-£350 (for a 3-course meal with drinks for two diners) and you can find out more here.
