Billy Bob’s Parlour in Skipton has combined a 1950s American ice cream parlour and diner with a fun-filled play area, so the kids can enjoy running around in the playground before tucking into a milkshake or ice cream to help cool them down.
Whether you fancy stopping off for ice cream, enjoying the full 50s diner experience, having a play in the epic adventure play area or simply grabbing a coffee, this 50s diner, with views of the Yorkshire Dales, has become a traveller’s favourite over the years – and we can see why.
The parlour takes you on a nostalgic journey through all things 1950s, from an authentic Airstream that serves expertly prepared espresso drinks to its retro American memorabilia.
It also has a restored 1940s Chicago soda fountain and a genuine American school bus that has been refurbished so you can dine inside it, alongside décor reminiscent of the classic diners we see on TV every day.
The booth-style seating is perfect for families to enjoy the tasty menu, which is filled with American favourites such as homemade burgers, towering sundaes, and stacks of pancakes and waffles served with ice cream. There is also a great veggie menu, which boasts everything from fully loaded veggie dogs to yummy veggie burgers.
Outside, kids can let their imaginations run wild in the excellent playground, where wooden trains, planes and automobiles are waiting to be clambered over by little ones, all against the backdrop of the stunning Yorkshire Dales.
Don’t worry if the weather takes a turn for the worse, either, as there are two undercover play barns: one for children under seven and the other for those over seven. This makes it a great place to visit all year round.
