The UK Most Terrifying Scream Park Has Returned To Yorkshire For Halloween

Fancy being scared out of your wits? If you love to face your fears, then Hallowscream at York Maze, North Yorkshire, is the perfect fright-filled day out. Expect to be chased, jumped at, and utterly terrified at this award-winning scare fest.

Taking place at York Maze – the UK’s best scare park – Hallowscream will have you scared witless in the safety of this unique venue, testing your and your friends’ nerve against all the spine-chilling horrors designed to shock and startle. We headed over this weekend, and we can confirm — it’s fantastic.

As soon as you enter, you’re greeted (or rather, ambushed) by actors ready to scare the bejeebus out of you as you make your way around the park. All in good fun, of course — but the 150 scare actors are incredible, from their eerie makeup to their perfectly timed interactions. They really make the experience as chilling as it is entertaining. No expense has been spared this year, with five terrifying scare mazes, each with a different theme to test your courage.

Hallowscream at York Maze kicked off 18 nights of spine-tingling Halloween fun with a sold-out opening weekend and the launch of a brand-new VIP bar — Lucifer’s Lounge. Big names from Yorkshire, including stars from Emmerdale, Love Island, and Big Brother, attended the launch night on Friday, 10th to experience the new bar in all its devilish glory.

York Maze hosted its first Hallowscream event in 2009, and it has grown massively since then. Now featuring five themed scare houses, stage shows, a food court, bars, and fairground rides, Hallowscream has won multiple awards, including Yorkshire’s Best Tourism Event, as well as Best Scream Park and Best Stage Performances in the UK at the annual ScareCON awards.

The 2025 event runs for 18 nights between 10th October and 1st November 2025. Standard tickets start at £28, rising to £50 on peak weekend nights. Fast Track and fairground-inclusive tickets are also available. Tickets must be booked in advance online; none are sold at the gate.

York Maze owner and Hallowscream creator Tom Pearcy said: “We always aim to offer something new, and after opening new scare houses in 2023 and 2024, this year we’ve transformed the central entertainment zone. You enter under a giant skull to find a new bar and an exclusive VIP bar upstairs. From the balcony, you can enjoy spectacular views of the main stage, with dancers and fire acts performing throughout the night. Inside Lucifer’s Lounge, you can drink with the devil himself and try our new signature Blood Bag cocktail!”
