The UK’s Top 10 Google Searches For 2022 Have Been Revealed

The most popular searches on Google in the UK have been revealed. And with a year of massive moments including Queen Elizabeth’s death, the ongoing war in the UK, the World Cup and Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard court case.

But what were the top searches in the UK? Taking the top spot in the searches was the daily puzzle game Wordle. That’s right the most popular Google search 2022 came from people searching for their daily puzzle fix.

For those who have been living under a rock, World is a game where you have a certain amount of chances to guess a five-letter word and it’s much harder than you think.

Next on the list was the World Cup, which has taken the headlines for many reasons over the year. With Wales and England both featuring, it’s not surprising that the football tournament featured in the top searches for the year.

And in the third spot was the Queen, who sadly passed away this year. Her Platinum Jubilee dominated trends, before her tragic death. Matt Cooke, Head of Google News Lab, said the list “reflects the arch of emotions experienced.”

“Amongst the extreme highs and lows, including national mourning and geo-political instability, it’s humbling to see that a game like Wordle supplied comfort.”
