This Halloween, Whitby Abbey will once again come to life with dramatic after-dark illuminations and spooky goings-on for everyone to enjoy. Whitby Abbey Illuminated is returning for 2025, one of the most exciting events in the Yorkshire Coast town’s calendar. You can experience the iconic abbey lit up by night as it overlooks and reflects in the water.

The abbey’s famous Gothic ruins, which inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula, provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable Halloween experience. There’s no better time to explore the haunting beauty of Whitby Abbey — especially once night falls.
