With the range of coffee shops in the city, it could be easy to forget about this beautiful spot, but turn your gaze away from the chain stores and head over to the The Central Library and Leeds Art Gallery where you’ll find The Tiled Hall Cafe, the most opulent spot to enjoy a coffee and a cake.
Located on the Headrow the Grade II listed building hides the most beautiful and grand cafe. The detailed tiling and interesting lighting create a beautiful atmosphere and make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The huge windows let in natural light, and make for a space you won’t want to leave.

The vaulted ceilings, rich turquoise walls and 80ft room were opened in 1884, and styled by architect George Corson. The Victorian architecture is clad with rich colourful mosaic with an oak parquet floor and marble columns.

The beautiful tiling was almost lost and left undiscovered until 1999 after the 1950s panelling was removed. The impressive Victorian hall was restored back into a stunning space back in 2007 with the help of English Heritage, highlighting the original fabric of the room.
