“Tha knoooows” It’s not the first time that the Yorkshire accent has been named sexy. We aren’t sure whether it’s the shortening of words or the elongating of our vowels but we just get the rest of the world riled up.
Well, it’s not made the number one spot this time but, a study that looked at the sexiest features including accents, facial features and height found that the West Yorkshire accent was the third sexiest accent with 16% of the vote.
Scotland took 36% of the vote with Northern Ireland taking 22% of the vote in second place. The study asked 2,000 respondents about accents they consider attractive and which others would turn them off.
Leeds was the specific region in Leeds that people preferred followed by Ilkley, Bradford and Huddersfield.
On the other end of the spectrum, southern accents such as Essex, cockney, and Brummie have voted the biggest turn-offs in the UK.
The study also asked people what their biggest ‘ick’ was which proved to be when people were rude to waiting for staff with 20% of the vote with others being late to a date with 17% and people who only spoke about themselves with 15%.
The survey also looked at the sexiest features of males and females, identifying physical features with men’s being short dark brown hair, brown eyes, a short beard or at least stubble, being exactly 6ft in height, and is in good shape.
Whereas the most attractive woman wears a moderate amount of makeup, has mid-length dark brown hair and brown eyes, and has a heart-shaped face aged 28 at 5ft 6 in height.
