This Yorkshire Dales Village Named As One Of The UK’s Best Hidden Gems

Guess what? There’s this hidden village up in North Yorkshire that’s getting some well-deserved attention as one of those awesome off-the-radar spots to check out.

It’s called Reeth, and it has also been voted most peaceful two years in a row and it’s about 11 miles to the west of Richmond. Turns out, this place made it onto the HomeToGo list of the top 50 coolest National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the UK.

And get this, it’s all part of HomeToGo’s third annual Hidden Gem Index. They’ve put together this guide for 2023 that spills the beans on the most breathtaking under-the-radar vacation spots across the nation.

They’ve done their homework using secret search data, insider info on what’s available, weather predictions for summer, the best local pubs, fun things to do, and even how good the place is for snapping photos.

So, basically, they’ve ranked the 50 dreamiest, most decked-out, and, of course, not-so-famous destinations within National Parks and AONBs.

The experts said: “While all of these small towns and villages are situated in highly sought-after settings, none appear on the list of the 1,000 most-searched destinations for summer via hometogo.co.uk, meaning that travellers need not turn their backs on beloved locales to find fresh inspiration for trips.”

“Of the locations that feature, twelve are in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, four in the Peak District National Park, and four in the Norfolk Coast AONB, with many more across the Snowdonia, Cairngorms, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs, Brecon Beacons, and Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks.”

We visited earlier this year and can confirm its absolutely stunning. There is a lovely bakery, the Two Dales Bakerym that do fresh sourdough loaves, tasty pastries and fresh coffee that we visited every morning without fail.

It also has som great pubs for a nice pint and wonderful food that offer stunning panoramic views of the surroundings dales.

In case you’re wondering, there are some other fantastic places on the list too. Think South Devon, Causeway Coast, Cotswolds, East Devon, Arnside & Silverdale, Gower, Anglesey, Mourne, and Antrim Coast AONB. If you’re up for a hiking adventure, there’s a bunch of adorable cottages you can crash in, and plenty of local pubs and restaurants to hop around to.

So, whether you’re into exploring or just chilling, Reeth and its surroundings have got you covered.
