We love. bit of posh here at The Yorkshireman – maybe because we are anything but. Whether it’s those lovely cobbled streets of York, a fancy Gastropub, or a lovely afternoon tea in some swanky spot. Some times it’s nice to see how the other half live. And, one spot in Yorkshire, is known as being just the spot for all of these things. That’s according to The Telegraph that is.
The popular newspaper named the UK’s 15 poshest towns and of course the spa town of Harrogate featured in the list. The fact that it’s a spa town says it all really. We love a visit to Harrogate as well as being dead posh, it also has a fantastic independent food & drink scene – and that speaks to us. There are lots of lovely places to enjoy a nice craft, a cheeky Italian or Yorkshire tapas.

Harrogate came in third out of all the posh spots, beaten to the top spot by Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire which came first and Bruton, Somerset in third. The paper described Harrogate saying its centre ‘retains a refined air, with elegant buildings, a strong boutique shopping scene and classily traditional eateries.’
A highlight obviously had to be the iconic Bettys tearoom, as well as the Turkish Baths and the Royal Hall. Typical features of the town that a tourist might be interested in. The Montpellier Quarter has Parisian vibes – and is also a must-visit. Home to a range of independent shops, bars and restaurants and is a great spot to potter around.
