This Yorkshire Spa Has Been Named Best In North & North-East England

A luxurious North Yorkshire retreat is celebrating after being voted the top spa in the region. Middleton Lodge Estate has been recognised as the best spa in North and North-East England by The Times and Sunday Times 50 Best UK Spas guide.

Nestled in the heart of a Georgian country estate, and surrounded by 200 acres of tranquil beech and oak trees, the estate has been hailed for its exceptional offerings. The judges praised Middleton Lodge for its “gimmick-free treatments” and applauded its “award-winning chefs who offer Michelin Green star dining.” The spa was described as “the height of sophistication, ensuring a stay glides gracefully into champion territory.”

This prestigious recognition highlights Middleton Lodge’s growing reputation as a wellness haven. With a focus on sustainability and quality, it has become a go-to destination for those seeking a restorative retreat.

The guide, which is available from Monday, 30th September, reflects the increasing demand for wellness and self-care experiences across the UK. It divides the country into ten regions: London, South East, South West, Central, East, North West, North and North-East, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Scotland. Spa reviewers travelled the length and breadth of the UK, from the Scottish Highlands to the coastlines of Cornwall, ensuring there is something to suit every taste, budget, and location.

Spa enthusiasts can explore the guide via an interactive online platform, with a special print supplement available on Sunday, 6th October. This accolade cements Middleton Lodge Estate as one of the finest spa destinations in the country, offering guests an unparalleled blend of wellness, relaxation, and award-winning dining.

The Times’ review of the spa that “Middleton Lodge feels like Yorkshire’s best-kept secret.” They described the forest spa’s honey-hued stone walls, where you’ll find the spa features such as a heated outdoor pool, sunken hot tub, and shepherds’ huts for massages using natural products. Not only that but they described the food calling it ‘Michelin-worthy meals’ served at The Forge showcasing estate-to-plate dishes, with ingredients sourced from the grounds and local farms. Rooms, located in the former dairy, coach house, and walled gardens, offer rustic charm and outdoor tin hot tubs.

Susan d’Arcy, Hotel and Spa Expert at The Times and Sunday Times, said: “With the UK spa scene in such robust health, it’s the perfect time for us to launch a guide to the best places to experience it. Obviously, excellent treatments, knowledgeable therapists and results-driven skincare ranges are the non-negotiables for inclusion but we’ve also prioritised thoughtful design, comprehensive facilities and inventive health-focused cuisine.”
