We at the Yorkshireman are proud to see Yorkshire fish & chip shops named among the best. The humble takeaway remains a national favourite, and God’s Own Country does it best. So when we see our chippies named as the best it fills us with pride.
Three Yorkshire fish and chip shops have made it to the UK’s top 12, as revealed by recent data from Betway. Choosing the best chippy can be subjective, often based on personal tastes and local loyalty.
Betting firm Betway compiled this list by analysing customer reviews from platforms like TripAdvisor, Google, and Instagram, using an index score that considered hashtags, Instagram views, and TripAdvisor rankings. The shops with the lowest index scores were ranked the highest.
Interestingly, only one of the Yorkshire top three was found on the coast. Two were from the county’s biggest city Leeds. In 12th place was Lighthouse Fisheries of Flamborough, located near the beautiful North Landing beach and of course Flamborough Head – a popular tourist spot.

The two Leeds chippies, which regularly feature in the best fish & chips lists were Croft Fisheries and taking the bronze in third place was The Bearded Sailor in Pudsey.
