Five Yorkshire Pubs Named In Europe's Top 100 Bars 2025

Us Yorkshire folk know how good we’ve got it with decent boozers coming out of our ears, especially those old traditional pubs. So to hear that not one, but five of our stunning venues have been named in the best pubs and bars in Europe makes us bloomin’ chuffed to say the least. The European Bar Guide has published its top 100 list for 2025, and we’ve made up 5% of the list. Not bad for England’s largest county.

The European Bar Guide publishing its top 100 list each you and is full of some of the best bars that the continent has to offer. Finding some hidden gems from Belgium to Romanie and back to ol’ Blighty. We can’t wait to tick some of these Yorkshire pubs off the list in 2025.

A little gem located in the North York Moors, The Birch Hall Inn featured highest in the list coming in 30th place. Known as the smallest pub in Yorkshire, it’s a quaint watering hole that’s described as one of ‘England’s one-offs, a surviving country inn still running as a sweet shop as well as a pub’.

It continues saying: ‘this charming and unique family-run cottage serves local ales, very basic butties, pork pies, snacks, sweets and occasionally locally made produce like juices. Inside the pub it is very cosy and intimate, a social space that’s exciting, out of time and an instant conversation starter.’

Behind Birch Hall is the West Yorkshire pub of The Sair Inn in Linthwaite near Huddersfield in 38th place. Described as ‘a superb unspoilt social local Yorkshire pub’ serving a large range of local ales. It takes ‘a step-back-in-time stone Inn with flagstone floor, old fireplace and low-slung exposed beams across several cosy rooms with bench seating.’
