21-Year-Old West Yorkshire Contestant Named For ‘Great British Bake Off’ 2023

You know autumn has officially begun when Great British Bake off is announced and finally we’ve been given the thumbs up and the contestants have been named with 21-year-old Yorkshire lad, Rowan representing his home county.

Our favourite baking show will be back with a fresh batch of bakers in the tent for Great British Bake Off 2023 which airs on Tuesday 26th September on Channel 4.

This year sees a first for the tent as it has its first-ever deaf contestant, Tasha from Bristol, 27, which the presenters have learnt sign language for.

There also young 21-year-old student from West Yorkshire, Rowan, who we will be cheering on!

His motto is ‘go big, or go home’, so we can expect some exciting stuff from the lad from God’s Own Country.

A student of English literature, Rowan is aiming to apply his creative eye to his cooking with interesting decorations and clean lines.

Earliest memories of baking for Rowan include classic beige goods such as scones, pork pies, shortbread and traditional jam tarts. All of which we’d happily scran.

It’s not all classics for Rowan though as the student has cocktail making skills he’s hoping will add a more opulent side to his makes.

He made a three-tier, 12-layer extravaganza for his own 21st birthday, so he’s no stranger to a show stopper!

We can’t wait to see what the Yorkshire lad has in this series of GBBO.

The new series will see Alison Hammond take over presenting duties from Matt Lucas. She’s known for her entertaining interviews, and iconic laugh. So, her and Noel Fielding will be a great pairing.

Being a previous contestant herself on the celebrity Stand Up For Cancer series, Alison will be able to empathise with the contestants.
