It’s probably not a great time to be starting up Dry January, because Wetherspoons has announced their January sale, and it includes pints for as little as £1.89. Bargain.
Kicking off on the 2nd January, right when the glitz and glam of Christmas and New Year starts to wear off, the sale will last for a couple of weeks, finally coming to a close on the 16th January. Plenty of time to sink a few cheap pints.
Everyone’s go-to pre-drinks venue will be slashing prices left right and centre, even across their non-alcoholic offerings.

Pints of Magners will be slashed right down to £1.89, while Shipyard beer will be reduced to just £2.35 a pint. I’ll take three of those, please. But it’s not just their draft selection that will be included in the sale. Spirits and wines will be brought in on the action too, with spirits such as Gordon’s Gin and a mixer costing just £2.45, and medium glasses of wine costing just £2.30. Sounds like i’m gonna have a hangover or two next month already…
If you are taking part in Dry January, fear not, because you’ll still be able to join in the fun with reduced options such as R. White’s, Dalston’s, San Pallegrino and coffees too.
Pub manager for JD Wetherspoon Bobby Platt has said of the decision to run a January sale:
“Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale at the pub too.
“The range of drinks on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.
“I believe that the January Sale will prove popular with our customers. As always, staff at the pub will serve customers responsibly.”
