Autumn is here, and for us at The Yorkshireman, who absolutely love Christmas, the countdown has begun until our streets are filled with twinkling lights, festive cheer, and a few mulled wines. So you’ll have to forgive us for celebrating the return of York Christmas Market before Halloween has even had the chance to spook us.
The award-winning market is set to take over York city centre once more from 13th November to 21st December 2025. Visitors can expect alpine chalets brimming with handmade gifts and crafts, alongside sweet treats and mouth-watering food and drink from local vendors. Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square will once again be transformed into a festive wonderland.

Organised by Make It York, York Christmas Market 2025 promises to be the biggest event in the city’s calendar, with thousands of visitors set to enjoy all it has to offer. Even better, 85% of traders are from the Yorkshire region, and every single food trader represents Yorkshire.
For a calmer experience, the market will host a designated Quiet Time daily from 10am to 12pm, offering a music-free environment so everyone can enjoy the festivities.
St Sampson’s Square also provides an accessible space just a few metres from the main market, located next to the accessible toilet and Changing Places facilities on Silver Street. The centre (Church Street, YO1 8BE) will be open Monday to Saturday, 10am–4pm.
The historic Shambles Market will remain open every day throughout the festive period. Just a short stroll from the Christmas Market, it offers timeless gifts and a bustling food court serving everything from Yorkshire favourites to world flavours.
Also returning is the hugely popular THOR’S Tipi, bringing its cosy fire pits, winter warmers, hearty feasts, and live music to York Museum Gardens (22 October 2025 – 4 January 2026) and The Milner Hotel Gardens (8 November – 24 December 2025).
Sarah Loftus, Managing Director of Make It York, said: “We are thrilled to announce the return of our award-winning York Christmas Market. The team is dedicated to creating an inclusive event for all to enjoy, and this time of year just adds to the festive experience we bring to the city. We can’t wait to welcome residents and visitors back to celebrate the season with us this year!”
