Who doesn’t love a trip to York? And what better time than Christmas? The markets may not be on this year, but York’s cobbled streets are lit up beautifully. After meandering around the historic city, a warm cup of hot chocolate is all you need, and this year York has something special in store.

With lockdown lifted yesterday, and York in tier two why not take advantage of the new Wonderful Hot chocolate shop that has opened in the Coppergate Centre in York. The pop-up is only open throughout December – blink, and you’ll miss it.
They’re serving up spectacular drinks for kids and grown-ups to enjoy! Kids can enjoy a hot chocolate, hot chocolate orange – with choccie orange segment, hot chocolate salted balls and more, starting at just £1.99.

The adults can make their hot chocolates ‘grown-up’ with the addition of brandy, Baileys and others for just a quid. If you’re wanting to get even more festive, you can enjoy a lovely glass of mulled wine instead (or both, we’re not judging).
The Coppergate store was due to be transformed into a new fun golf attraction, Hole In The Wand, but the owners created this hot chocolate wonderland for one whole month first.
York Press reported that mastermind behind the pop-up Phil Pinder said: “With the lack of a Christmas market this year, we hope we can help spread a little festive joy with our menu of chocolatey treats and mulled drinks.
“We have all the Covid-19 measures in place to keep customers safe. We will be open daily from 11am to 6pm, on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 10am to 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays.”
We commend Phil for adding a little bit of extra Christmas cheer to the streets of York – it’s definitely needed after the year we’ve had.
