New research published by Historic England has revealed the staggering value of Yorkshire and the Humber’s heritage.
Contributing to economic prosperity and creating jobs in both tourism and construction, Heritage is a hugely important factor for the region – and Yorkshire isn’t short of it.

With iconic places of interest such as the Bolton Abbey Estate, Skipton Castle and Kirkstall Abbey, the latest figures collected by Historic England on behalf of the Historic Environment Forum shows that the region’s heritage equates to a GVA (gross value added) of a whopping £2 billion – as well as creating 41,000 jobs.
Yorkshire is a popular destination for tourists, with over 1.3m tourists visiting recorded in 2018. It was also revealed by Visit England that the most visit places in Yorkshire that year were Flamingo Land, York Minster and Scarborough Cliff Railway.
