Sun, glorious sun. We’re about to get a lot of it it seems… At least, according to the weather experts at the Met Office.
Predicting a ‘warmer-than-average’ summer across the board, the long-range forecast expects that the UK will be hit with numerous heatwaves this summer, with cooler periods expected in between. Basically, it’s the good news we were all hoping for after an absolutely rubbish summer last year.

Getting our hopes up for a summer packed full of beer garden sessions, the Met Office’s summer forecast reads: “There is an increase in the likelihood of warmer-than-average conditions. Whilst this doesn’t necessarily mean heatwaves will occur, it does increase the likelihood of heatwaves compared to normal. Even with a slight reduction in the chance of a wet period, spells of wetter weather are likely bringing heavy showers or thunderstorms at times.”

Throughout June, Yorkshire folk can also expect some lovely dry weather, with experts predicting ‘sunny spells’ with ‘fine, dry weather’ for most, alongside a few June showers towards the end of the month.
Later on the month, the Met Office reports that the end of June is likely to be hotter than average. Best crack the shorts our then!
