That’s right — the magical experience Yorkshire Winter Wonderland is back at York Designer Outlet, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The North Yorkshire city will once again host the North of England’s largest outdoor ice rink, measuring an impressive 957 sqm of real ice, complete with a sparkling 30ft Christmas tree as its centrepiece.
Surrounded by festive log cabins, Yorkshire Winter Wonderland will be one of the most magical spots in Yorkshire this Christmas — and you won’t want to miss it. York’s favourite festive attraction opens on Friday 14th November 2025 to Sunday 4th January 2026.

The Ice Factor rink offers fun for all ages, whether you’re gliding gracefully across the ice or carefully hugging the edge. It’s one of the best ways to enjoy the winter season with friends and family. Little ones (and wobbly adults!) can even use penguin skate mates to help them find their balance.
Overlooking the rink is The Chalet, a cosy alpine-themed café serving delicious hot chocolate, mulled wine, sweet treats and hearty hot dogs — perfect for warming up after your skate. Sit back and enjoy your treats as you watch the skaters glide by under the twinkling lights.

Once you’ve finished on the ice, head over to the Vintage Funfair, which features an array of classic rides from the golden age of fairgrounds. From the Dodgems to the Hush Hush Train Ride and traditional game stalls, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The ice rink is just one of hundreds of festive events taking place across Yorkshire this Christmas. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, keep an eye on our regularly updated list of Christmas activities across the region. Let’s make Christmas 2025 one to remember!
