14 Of The Best (& Spookiest) Things To Do In Yorkshire This Halloween

The weather may have taken a turn, but that’s not stopping us – and we’re all geared up for all things spooky. From carving up a pumpkin, eating your body weight in Halloween-shaped chocolates and turning off all the lights while hiding from the Trick or Treaters. It’s an annual tradition, and one we very much look forward to every year. But if you fancy something a little more sociable than eating all the treats before the kids knock on the door, we’ve rounded up all the Halloween events in Yorkshire that are taking place.

So, what are the best things to do for Halloween in Yorkshire in 2025?

1. Ghosts in the Garden

York Museum Gardens sits in the centre of the historic city and is putting on a special Halloween-themed trail with lots of creepy ghouls. From a Victorian Gentleman to a jilted bride, it’s a great way to spend some time in the city centre – and it’s free. There’s even an homage to Long Boi this year, too.

The trail spans across the city centre, with 45 sculptures to uncover.

2. Hallowscream at York Maze

York Maze’s Hallowscream event is back, bringing some seriously spooky sights to the creepy maze. Expect five separate live-action haunted houses, each filled with live actors lurking at every turn. Maybe pack extra undies for this one… Once you make it out, guests will enjoy a complete central entertainment zone. with a bar, DJ and street food. Find out more.

3. Spooky Barn at Sledmere House

This year at East Yorkshire’s stunning Sledmere House, guests get to enter a ‘Spooky Barn’  this October Half Term. Enjoy a bird of prey flying show as well as some incredible reptiles from Owl Adventures. For the brave, there is a Halloween trail with clues all the way down to the Walled Garden for a petrifying pumpkin hunt. In addition, there will be creepy crafts, gruesome golf, a Halloween hook-a-duck game, a walk-through experience, and much more. Find out more.

4. Halloween at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

This Halloween, guests at Yorkshire Wildlife Park can enjoy this fantastic Halloween event in Yorkshire. The YWP will be filled with fearful family fun, live shows, colourful characters and things that go bump in the night! It’s sure to be one of the top Halloween events in Yorkshire this year.

5. Halloween at Stockeld Park

Stockeld Park is pulling out all the stops this Halloween – with tons of experiences including a zombie laser experience, a spooky masquerade ball, Halloween pumpkin picking and much more. Trust us when we say, the kids’ll be knackered afterwards. The family day out is taking place every October weekend and daily from the 25th of October until the 2nd of November 2025

6. Frightwater Valley at Lightwater Valley

Valley of the Clowns is coming to Lightwater Valley, a spine-tingling experience that promises eerie carnival vibes with tons of spooky activities to enjoy.

Other years, there has been a ‘sinister cinema’ where creepy clowns lurk, a live scare maze boasting actors who’ll be sure to have you papping your pants, a trick or treat street, and a trick or treat trail.

7. Mother Shipton’s Halloween

Mother Shipton’s Cave may well already have a spooky history to it, but it’s set to get even spookier for its Halloween events in Yorkshire. From the 25th of October to the 2nd of November, you can enjoy Creepy & Kooky, an event inspired by the world’s most delightfully dark family. There will be themed displays, take haunting photos, and meet live actors portraying a gruesome grandma, a mysterious mother, a dashing darkly-dressed gentleman, and their gothic daughter with a stare that chills.

Known as England’s oldest tourist attraction, Mother Shipton’s will be bringing all things hocus pocus to the cave this Halloween, with themed displays, spooky actors, and tons of photo ops promised. The Petrifying Well and cave (Mother Shipton’s birthplace) will be open as usual, and there’s plenty of refreshments to enjoy on-site too. Find out more here.

8. Halloween at The Forbidden Corner

‘The Strangest Place in the World’ will be hosting some Halloween fun throughout October with spooky creatures and happenings to find throughout the park. Get prizes for discovering the missing bones, take part in fancy dress competitions and enjoy the labyrinth, folly, unique buildings and statues.

Throughout the entire month, from the 1st until the 31st of October, our renowned folly will be transformed with delightfully eerie Halloween decorations. Expect creepy creatures, giant spiders, ghostly figures, and all manner of seasonal surprises around every twist and turn. Find out more here.

9. Boston Park Farm Shriek Week

Shriek Week is back for another year at Boston Park Farm, boasting a fun Maize Maze, pumpkin hunt and pumpkin carving for families to enjoy. From 18th to 31st October, you don’t want to miss this Yorkshire Halloween event. If that wasn’t all, guests can also enjoy the farm and play areas, and enjoy Halloween treats in the cafe. 10. Burton Agnes Hall Spooky Halloween Trail

Burton Agnes Hall’s Halloween trail kicks off this 25 October 2025 – 2 November 2025, bringing tons of frightful scenes to discover in the woods, and even an adventure playground for the kids to enjoy. It’s a fantastic option for a spooky dog walk, and you can even grab a bit of pizza in the gardens, too. Find out more.

11. Ghost Bus Tour of York

On Halloween, you can enjoy tours on the restored classic Routemaster that originally ran as a funeral bus. Freaky huh?

Travelling throughout York city centre, your tour guide will educate you on the spooky goings-on of the city as he takes you around the streets of York, showcasing some of the most haunted spots around. Prepare to have chills. Get tickets here.

12. The Original Ghost Walk Of York

Interested in the many ghostly goings-on in York? The Original Ghost Walk of York is famed for its team’s knowledge of all things that go bump in the night, escorting guests around the city to see some of York’s most haunted locations, while learning the spooky folklore and legends of each place.

Whitby Abbey is set to glow in the colours of the rainbow this Autumn, as the hit favourite is back, Whitby Abbey Illuminated for 2025. Returning as one of Whitby’s most exciting events, the beloved event sees the iconic Abbey lit up by night as it overlooks and reflects in the water, with stunning live performances also taking place for Yorkshire folk to enjoy. 14. William’s Den

Trick or Treat Street returns for 2025 at William’s Den in East Yorkshire, bringing a fun, theatrical trick or treat trail for kids to enjoy.

The village square will be full of fun spooks, treats and mysterious characters, who all have their own stories to tell. The event is designed for under 12s, so expect spooks rather than scares and treats rather than tricks, alongside great food and drink on-site. Find out more here.
