This Sheffield Cafe Has Launched A 99p Breakfast To Help Families Feeling The Cost Of Living Pinch

Cost of living: Sheffield cafe #Tastee launches 99p breakfast after hearing kids are going to school hungry

Everyone is feeling the pinch at the minute, with the price of everything on the rise, and this cafe in Sheffield is doing its bit to help those struggling with the cost of living.

Starting this week, #Tastee on White Lane in Gleadless is offering a 99p breakfast in a bid to help those that are struggling with the cost of living.

Co-owner Nadine Grant says she and her staff decided they wanted to “do their bit” after hearing of customers’ struggles with the cost of living.

Posting to Instagram #Tastee wrote: “Just to let all our customers know, to help everyone out who’s struggling with the cost of living. From the 13th of June tastee will be doing our number 1 breakfast at 99p instead of £3.50”.

“This is limited to one per person, could all my customers please share this as all us at tastee think this could really help our community.”

The breakfast includes all sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes and eggs, all the things that a good breakfast needs.

Co-owner Nadine Grant said they put it on the menu “to see if it would help” after noticing “people aren’t spending like they normally do” The Star reports.

She continued saying: “You can tell everyone’s feeling the pinch. We hope it helps the local community, especially the kids and parents – a lot of kids are going to school in the morning hungry these days.”

The mum of five continued: “We know everyone’s bills have gone up… The economy is really bad at the moment; energy prices have gone up, fuel has gone up.”

The good-hearted people at #Tastee are supported in the efforts by its meat supplier John Wragg & Co and B&P Wholesale catering suppliers.

In other news, there is a protest against the fuel prices rises is taking place in Yorkshire next month.

Unleaded prices have raised to a massive 183.16p per litre with diesel at 188.82p a litre costing the average family more than £100 to fill up their car.
