This time of year the calorie count goes through the roof with us at The Yorkshireman with all things Christmassy on the shelves and in the shops. A particular highlight has been the apple crumbles that have popped up at the Christmas markets.

But, now this York-based ice cream companies’ pigs in blanket ice cream is our new must-try having been chosen to be stocked in Aldi stores all over the UK.

And beating out the competition Yorvale ice cream took home the win with its pigs in blanket ice cream after pitching to the managing director of buying at Aldi UK, Julie Ashfield along with the communications director at Aldi UK, Richard Thornton.

Aldi posted to its socials about the new ice cream flavour writing: “Be honest – you know you want to try it! Congratulations to Ian and Lesley at Yorvale who’ve secured a listing in our stores for Christmas with their Pigs in Blankets Ice Cream. Starter and dessert all in one? Find it in the freezers from Tuesday 19th while stocks last!”

They aren’t the first Yorkshire-pair to be successful on the show with father and son pairing from Malton winning with their Yorkshire Pudding beer, which ended up being placed in Aldi stores across the UK as well.
