We bloomin’ love a curry. There’s nothing better than heading out to your local curry house in your town with friends, family or just a date night with the other half. Give me a beer, a Rogan Josh with a side of rice and a cheeky naan, and I’m a happy man. So, these awards caught my attention as I don’t think curry houses get the love they deserve.
Brought to you by Oceanic Awards, the 14th annual English Curry Awards took place on August 11, 2025, at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham. Winners of the awards included a range of Yorkshire’s best, spread across the county, celebrating the top talent across the industry.
The big award for the area has to be Curry Restaurant of the Year, Yorkshire and the Humber, which went to Bengal Lounge, Wetherby, and we’ll be adding it to our list of places to try after its big win.
Some of the top awards, including Delhi Wala Food, took home the gold for best Indian in Leeds, with Prithiraj announced as best in Sheffield. Other spots worth a mention include Lala’s Restaurant in Leeds, which won Pakistani Restaurant Of The Year and Bombay Spice in York, which won Indian Restaurant of the Year.
