The Yorkshire Shepherdess took to social media to share a heartfelt post about the passing of her ‘faithful colleague’ yesterday. Sharing her grief with her half a million Twitter followers she announced the passing of her sheepdog Kate.
Taking to social media she shared the news of Kate, who passed away in her sleep, writing: “Then there’s the other kind of mourning. Where you go to get your faithful workmate, companion, colleague & friend from her kennel.
“Only to find that she has passed away in her sleep. Kate….that’ll do.”
Amanda, who has been on quite the emotional roller coaster recently, The emotional farewell to Kate the Sheepdog also featured some memorable photos of her faithful companion and workmate – which touched pulled on our heartstrings as well as that of Owen’s social following.
Ben Fogel, who discovered the Owen Family, shared his condolences writing: “I’m so sorry” in her post.
Fans of Amanda were quick to share their condolences as well with one person writing: “Oh Amanda, I am so so sorry. Run free over the Rainbow Bridge Kate, wait patiently for your mum, but enjoy the eternal warm sunshine, good food & lots of sheep.”

Another person wrote: “Heartbroken to read this post dear Amanda.
And a third sharing in her grief having lost her own recently wrote: “My heart goes out to you and the kids. We lost our gorgeous boy 2 weeks ago and we are devasted, house feels empty”
The Yorkshire Shepherdess recently celebrated the news of her daughter Raven graduating from York St John University with snaps from the graduation which was in York Minster.
Amanda has a show coming out on Channel 4 in the near future. In a six-part series, Amanda Owen‘s Extraordinary Farmers Lives, will tell the inspiring and moving tales of farmers and what the current state of farming is like for them – much like how Amanda was discovered herself by Ben Fogel all those years ago.
