We have been hooked on The Traitors since it returned for a second series earlier this month. We even enjoy the anticipation of waiting for Wednesday to arrive to get our weekly does through to Friday. But, not everything on the show is as it seems.
Set in a 30-bedroom Highland Ardross Castle in Scotland, you’d think the contestants of the show that’s presented by the wonderful Claudia Winkleman, slept in one of those empty beds. Unfortunately, it has come to light that they don’t in fact sleep in the castle.
So, what? Glamping pods on the grounds? A hut? Claudia’s holiday home? Nope, whilst the drama is filmed in the castle, the players head off instead to a £70-a-night airport hotel. Yes, we know. Not as grand as you’d have thought.

The BBC show, which is attracting over 8 million viewers per episode, has left fans stunned after this revelation which came to light via the host of the US version of the show, Alan Cumming.
Whilst speaking to The Daily Beast he said: “They all stayed in the airport hotel in the Inverness airport. How glamorous – you come to Scotland, and you stay in the Inverness airport hotel!
“I stayed in a little house in Inverness. But I had a room in the castle where I would get made up and dressed. It had a huge bed in it. So I did actually sleep quite often, but not overnight.”
That’s right. After the contestants have had an emotionally draining day discovering traitors, the end up at the Courtyard by Marriott, which is a 40 minute drive away. LADbible report that security guards have been spotted porwling the halls to keep contestants from conversing.
One fan of the show wrote: “The Traitors location is less exciting when you know they sleep overnight at the hotel right next to the runway at Inverness Airport. #TheTraitorsUK“
