The long-awaited BBC show The Traitors series 2 in the UK has treated fans to a sneak peek image and a confirmed launch date. Making its debut during the BBC World Cup coverage in early 2023, the show quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase, and it’s no surprise given that viewers were captivated from the opening scene to the final credits.

Set to premiere tonight, Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024 at 9 p.m. GMT (1 p.m. PT), the BBC’s sequel to last year’s breakout success will once again be hosted by Claudia Winkleman. The show introduces a new batch of aspiring traitors and devoted participants, promising an engaging follow-up to the previous season. Following the premiere, episodes 2 and 3 will be readily available on BBC iPlayer, adopting a viewer-friendly release strategy that proved successful in the past.

Last year, saw Hull influencer Claire appear on the first series – and we can only to see more Yorkshire folk in the next series.

The BAFTA-winning format of this guessing game involves 22 strangers competing for a chance to win an impressive £120,000 ($146,000). In a twist, three designated “traitors” are granted the power to strategically eliminate contestants, while the remaining “faithfuls” must discern their identities.

The group engages in daily challenges to maintain the prize fund and heighten the suspense. The inaugural season of Traitors received acclaim for its diverse cast and unexpected twists, prompting the greenlighting of a third season even before the second aired. Additionally, a second U.S. series featuring celebrities is set to air on Peacock in the near future.

Discussing the new series, Traitors presenter, Claudia Winkleman says: “The players are more ruthless, they are less innocent, and they have no qualms about accusing people.”

“In the first season, Maddy [Smedley, a faithful] would say ‘I think it’s him’… and everyone went ‘shhh, you’re wrong’. And I was just like, ‘listen to her!’ But here [in series two], you see the first round table, it explodes. They want to play the game and they are, impatient is not the right word, but they’re more brutal.”

Winkleman comments that “It’s not a matter of goodies and baddies… Sometimes I really want the traitors to do it, sometimes I really want the faithful to catch one of them, and they both work in equal measure, because I respect gameplay above everything.”
