The Green Dragon is a 13th-Century well-preserved Yorkshire Dales pub that has suddenly closed. It stands as the entrance to the famous Hardraw Force waterfall, which is the tallest single-drop waterfall in Britain.

The pub features as the interior of the Drovers Arms in the popular Channel 5 series All Creatures Great and Small, which is set to return to our screens this month.
The pub overlooks the Upper Wensleydale region of the dales and is a stone’s throw from the popular town of Hawes.
The latest people to run the pub were first-time publicans Mr and Mrs Rennoldson, who took it over back in the Spring of 2021.
Mark Thompson owned The Green Dragon at Hardraw since 2001 and ran it himself since 2016 when he retired, he now leases out – so it is unclear what this means for the future of the beloved pub.
The Green Dragon pub in the Yorkshire Dales was only just named in The Guardian’s list of the UK’s best waterside pubs with a view earlier this year.
Writing about the pub they said: “An ivy-clad Wensleydale gem, this inn backs on to Hardraw Force – a stunning waterfall with a 100ft drop – the longest in England. Don’t leave without trying their much-loved homemade steak pie, best paired with a pint of Theakston Old PeculiarPeculier ale.”
