Leeds icons, Kaiser Chiefs have announced a huge coming show for next summer to mark the milestone of the 20th anniversary of the debut album ‘Employment’. The album included hits such as ‘I Predict A Riot’, ‘Everyday I Love You Less And Less’, and ‘Oh My God’.
The homecoming gig will take place at Temple Newsam Park, which was the original home of Leeds Festival and it will be a celebration of indie music with huge support acts. The Cribs, a fellow West Yorkshire band will be supporting as well as Razorlight, The Coral, We Are Scientist and more to be announced.
The Album, which was released back in March 2005, is seven-times Platinum and multi-award winning ‘Employment’ is still to this day the biggest selling record from a Leeds artist. This is no surprise when you think of those classic singles released from it.

The band released a statement announcing their biggest Leeds gig ever saying: “Twenty years since Employment and twenty-three years since we last played at Temple Newsam we are delighted to be back. Last time we played there (as Parva) we joked we were on after Guns n Roses who had played the previous night so it’s been a long wait to finally actually headline the Park.
“We are a band that historically always looked forwards but after 20 years of people telling us how important Employment is to them and how it soundtracked people’s lives, we felt we had to organise a celebration.”
They aren’t the only Yorkshire lads celebrating an anniversary as The Cribs will celebrate two decades since their classic sophomore album ‘The New Fellas’.
It won’t just be nostalgia at the festival with some of the biggest modern indie bands Hastings trio HotWax and West Yorkshire’s own Ellur have also been invited to play.
Kaiser Chiefs said: “We’ve managed to get a few of our old touring friends to come and celebrate with us and of course everyone is invited. Come celebrate the 2000’s, Employment, When Leeds took over the World. See you all in May.”
The pre-sale for the Kaiser Chiefs Temple Newsam park gig is open new with general admission on-sale at 9AM on Friday 11th October. You can get yours here.
