Saltmoore To Launch New Fine Dining Concept Celebrating The Yorkshire Coast & Moors

If you’ve been lucky enough to visit the Yorkshire coast’s most luxurious hotel yet (and one of only two Michelin Key hotels in Yorkshire), you’ll know that Saltmoore doesn’t mess around when it comes to good food. Whether it’s bistro-dining in the ever-chic restaurant (developed with the help of Tommy Banks), or relaxed pizza and pasta at the Beach House, we’ve been pretty spoiled for choice to date at Saltmoore – and now, things are about to get even more special, with the introduction of fine dining concept Calluna.

It’s been some time in the making and something envisioned even before the doors flung open at the Sandsend retreat, but now, Executive Chef Adam Maddock and team are ready to bring Calluna to the general public, with tasting menus designed to reflect the surrounding landscape of both moors and sea.

Ingredients for the menus will be sourced locally and reflect the seasons, with food from both local producers and the kitchen garden at Saltmoore. The first menu is set to reflect this perfectly, with the likes of Fortune’s kippers from Whitby featuring, venison from Sandsend’s Mulgrave Estate (a mere metres from the hotel), and even sourdough made with Yorkshire ale, Black Sheep.

It’s set to be an intimate affair at Calluna, with only 24 covers each evening allowing guests to savour every moment, and just six counter seats for the front-row experience – for those who like to watch the team at work.

Executive Chef Adam Maddock said:

“Calluna is about creating a restaurant that belongs here. We’re surrounded by an incredible landscape, the coast, the moors and the produce that comes from them and we want that sense of place to run through everything we do.

“The menu will continue to evolve with the seasons, so what guests experience in October will naturally change as we move through the year. It’s been a long time in the making and I’m incredibly excited to finally welcome people into Calluna.”

The tasting menu is priced at £125 per person with a supplementary cheese course at £15pp.

Calluna opens on 15th October, and reservations are open now.
