Yorkshire Weather Warning Issued With Heavy Rain, Lightning & Hail Expected This Afternoon Into The Evening

North & East Yorkshire can expect heavy rain and lightning through Friday afternoon and evening according to The Met Office.

A yellow warning has been issued for the area with warnings from now until 10pm tonight with showers and thunderstorms likely to bring heavy rain, lightning and hail in places throughout the afternoon into the evening.

Many places remain dry at the moment but thunderstorms could develop becoming more frequent in late afternoon into the evening.

While many places in the warning area will remain dry, heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop today, becoming most frequent from mid-afternoon and lasting into the evening in places.

People living in East and North Yorkshire are being told to prepare for thunderstorms later on Friday after the Met Office issued a yellow warning for the area.

People in these areas are being told to prepare and expect, flooding or lighting strikes, with chances of delays along with warnings or spray or ‘sudden flooding’ which can lead to difficult driving conditions.

Other issues that may occur are slight chances of power cuts, which could lead to other affects to businesses or houses.

Some places could 20-30mm possibly in one or two hours and will likely be accompanied by hail in a few places.
