Just when you thought the whole Colin vs Cuthbert story couldn’t get any crazier, a chippy in Hull is selling battered Collin the Caterpillars, and they sound amazing. In case you’ve been asleep for the last week, M&S has taken legal action against Aldi, claiming it infringed the copyright of their iconic cake with their Cuthbert.
Well, these chippys must be run by a genius as Papa’s Fish and Chips battered Colin the Caterpillar are selling them in all their branches across the north.
The popular chippy has shops in Hull, Cleethorpes, Whitby and Scarborough, and Bridlington that are selling the deep-fried mini Colins. The fish & chip franchise gave their support to Cutherbert when they posted a message to Twitter this week.
Posting on Twitter, Papa’s said: “Sorry @MarksandSpencer we’re backing @AldiUK on this one. #SnitchersGetBattered so we’re battering Colin the Caterpillar in our delicious sweet batter Mon 26th – and all profits go to @teencancertrust.”
The amazing battered chocolate treat will be available for only £1.49, and all money is going to charity – so you’d be doing a great thing by say… eating 10 of these beauties.
Speaking to Grimsby Telegraph, the owner Dino said: ‘It’s all a bit of fun and a great way to raise money for charity.
‘Like the rest of the nation, we have been gripped by the Colin and Cuthbert saga and we’ve chosen which side we are backing. ‘The battered caterpillars are also absolutely delicious, so we thought why not? ‘We are buying as many mini Colins as we can and they will be battered in our sweet batter and available in all restaurants on Monday.’
Papa’s Fish & Chops are famous for their Christmas special, which is a 12-inch battered pig in blanket. That’s right! A whole lot of sausage over the Christmas period to look out for.
