Hidden away behind a renowned cheesemonger’s shop in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales is a culinary gem known as Rind. Tucked away in the charming village of Austwick, this pizzeria is a delightful find for both locals and travellers alike.
Situated discreetly behind the bustling cheese shop at the Courtyard Dairy, Rind offers a unique take on the traditional Italian dish of pizza, infusing it with a distinct Great British flair. What sets this establishment apart is its ingenious use of locally sourced British cheeses, adding a delicious twist to every slice.
As patrons indulge in their Neapolitan-style pizzas, they are treated to breathtaking views of the rolling Dales countryside, enhancing the dining experience. Each pizza on the menu is carefully crafted to showcase the diverse flavours of British cheeses. From the classic Margherita topped with Old Winchester cheese to the inventive combinations featuring Yorkshire Wensleydale and an assortment of delectable blue cheeses, Rind offers something to tantalise every palate.
During our visit, we savoured the kale and chilie pizza with fennel sausage, as well as the tantalising honey n’duja pizza adorned with creamy Boccocino Mozzarella. Even our four-legged friends couldn’t resist the irresistible aroma of freshly baked pizzas, giving their enthusiastic approval.

The star of the show, however, was undoubtedly the Yorkshire parkin tiramisu, a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, perfectly complementing the savoury flavours of the pizzas.
Before bidding farewell, we couldn’t resist indulging in the unique experience of the cheese vending machine, selecting a selection of artisan cheeses and perhaps a scoop of locally made ice cream. The wine shop was also an absolute treat for us. Pizza, wine, and cheese in our favourite place in the world meant that we were in heaven.
