Saltmoore in Sandsend has become one of just two Yorkshire hotels to receive Michelin Keys – joining Grantley Hall as one of the lucky recipients of the esteemed accolade. The award, which launched just last year, is Michelin’s hotel iteration of their globally recognised ‘stars’, and awards the best of the best across the world.
Grantley Hall was among the first in the world to receive such an award, and now, just one year after opening, Saltmoore has become the second in Yorkshire to receive Michelin Keys.
According to Michelin, hotel experts judge several factors when selecting hotels, including “architecture and interior design; overall personality and character; quality and consistency of service; value between the level of the experience and the price paid; and the hotel’s contribution within its particular locality”.
Saltmoore was deemed by Michelin experts as “exceptional”, with the team saying: “This estate boasts subtle Victorian-era inspired architecture, offering a luxurious living experience across its 72 rooms and suites.
“A haven for wellness enthusiasts, The Sanctuary, the hotel’s spa, with its indoor pool and cryo chamber, promises unparalleled relaxation, while its restaurants and bars offer seasonal dishes and cocktails honoring its surrounding nature.”
Keys are issued on a “special” (one key), “exceptional” (two keys) and “extraordinary” (three keys) basis, with both Saltmoore and Grantley Hall falling in the exceptional category.
Saltmoore has quickly gained recognition nationally for its stunning, high-end rooms, fantastic spa and location in peaceful Sandsend – bringing the Yorkshire coast’s first true slice of luxury (which was well overdue!).
Guests can enjoy beautiful bedrooms with free-standing bath tubs, peaceful spa days, and incredible food designed with the help of Michelin Star chef Tommy Banks.
