This World-Famous Yorkshire Pub Serves Over 52 Types Of Pie

Did someone say pie? We’ve got a right craving for ’em now that the weather is starting to turn. We can’t get enough of quaint pubs serving hearty grub next to a roaring fire, and the Piebald Inn in Hunmanby is just what the doctor ordered.

Pub, restaurant, and hotel, found in the Yorkshire Wolds, serving over 52 types of pie (one for each week of the year) cooked fresh on site every day.

From classic pies to tempting recipes you won’t find anywhere else, we’d recommend everyone ventures here are least once in their life.

You have a choice of every meat at The Piebald Inn in Hunmanby. From beef, chicken, turkey, pork (including haggis and black pudding), game, goat, and also fish.

We visited this weekend and had The Jeju (a taste of the Orient), which is a Korean-style pulled brisket with hoisin, ginger, spring onions, and rice noodles.

Asian-inspired pies seemed to be what we were craving as my other half had The Lijiang Pony, which is a classic Thai Green Curry with diced chicken, onion, garlic, fresh root ginger, and chilies gently cooked in coconut milk.

Veggies, don’t worry they haven’t forgotten about you – and if you have special dietary requirements, you can contact them 72 hours before visiting and they will try to accommodate.

Enjoy a classic steak & ale pie with the Irish Draught, which consists of steak braised in Guinness and onion with mushrooms and thick Guinness gravy.

Or try something a little different such as the curry-inspired pie, The Bhutia which is a hot curried diced leg of lamb with potatoes, fresh spinach, okra, and assorted Indian spices.

One of the naughtiest concoctions on the menu is the Quarter Horse which is belly pork cooked slowly on the rib in Coca-Cola and whisky, allowed to cool, and then pulled off the bone. It’s then mixed with sweetcorn, carrot, BBQ sauce, and baked beans.

All pies are served with your choice of hand-cut chunky chipped potatoes, mashed or new potatoes and garden peas, mushy peas or fresh seasonal vegetables and gravy.

It’s not only the pies that are top-notch at this spot, their beer is also worthy of a visit. They are featured on Good Beer Guide 2021 and you can enjoy a few decent ales whilst you come to enjoy one of their many pies.

You can also park up in the car park with your campervan for an overnight stay if you dine at the venue – which is great as it’s a stone’s throw from Humanby Gap, Scarborough, and Filey which have stunning beaches.

The terrace is also a great place to enjoy a meal or a drink – the weather depends of course. It overlooks a beautifully landscaped garden and is a peace of paradise in its own right.

Our terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a meal or drink in the summer sun, while our spacious and inviting dining room offers a friendly and intimate dining experience.

We have an area in our bar where dogs are welcome, and if weather permits – plenty of room on our patio which overlooks our beautiful, landscaped garden.
