Reknowned for its fancy cocktails, The Alchemist which serves up a range of delectable drinks with a side of showmanship is coming to York city centre. From smokey dried ice to flaming spirits, it’s so much fun to watch the bartenders create your tasty drink of choice.
Already found in Leeds in Trinity Shopping Centre and Greek Street, York is set to be the third Yorkshire venue for The Alchemist. Set in The Coach House building formerly occupied by Thomas Cook and Royal Bank it’s found on the corner of Nessgate and Ousegate.

The Alchemist take the alchemy side of its name seriously and creates the best cocktails using test tubes, blow torches and more. So wether you want a smoky old fashioned or something fruity, they have you covered.
The unique building will make for the perfect backdrop for The Alchemist and its weird & wonderful cocktails. We do hope they bring out the character of the building to make it inkeeping with the Historic city of York. If the other venues we have visited of theirs are anything to go by, it will be a great addition to the city.
The Alchemist is set to take the ground and basement levels of The Coach House with the upper floors potentially being turned into a residential space.

Tom Riddolls, development surveyor at The Helmsley Group, said: “The Alchemist is a fantastic brand to welcome to York and it is testament to the strength of The Coach House’s offer that it has chosen the location ahead of other venues in the city.
“When we acquired The Coach House, we said it offered a rare and exceptional leisure opportunity for a forward thinking and prominent leisure operator to open a significant bar and / or restaurant in the heart of York’s thriving retail core. The Alchemist fits both these criteria entirely and we are delighted to have them on board.

“This is another positive addition to Coney Street and neighbouring areas and complements our exciting vision to revitalise this part of the city centre, including opening up the riverfront for the enjoyment of all.”
