This Dracula-Themed Bar Has Opened In Whitby

Whitby Crown Bar and Dracula are synonymous with the seaside town, inspiring scenes in Dracula. So, the idea of a Bram Stoker themed bar makes perfect sense to us. It feels like a fitting addition to the popular coastal town, which sees thousands of visitors each year exploring its Gothic history.

Opened in a former North Yorkshire post office, the conversion of the 18th-century Grade II listed building is a welcome addition to the busy town centre. Located on Church Street, Whitby Crown Bar is breathing new life into the venue, which has stood vacant for several years.

The bar appears keen to embrace Whitby’s history, with the motto: “Come for a drink, stay for the story,” inviting visitors into a world where Gothic fiction and local heritage collide.

Designed as an immersive experience, the venue features low lighting, shadowy corners and carefully curated relics that create an atmosphere lifted straight from the pages of a Victorian nightmare. It aims to be far more than an ordinary drinking spot, feeling as much like a museum or storytelling chamber as a late-night haunt.

A fitting Whitby jet and gold crown takes centre stage, serving as a tribute to the town’s heritage and showing just how seriously the venue takes its theme. Alongside the crown, visitors will find curious and slightly macabre artefacts, each adding another layer to the experience.

Guests can sip drinks surrounded by echoes of Whitby’s literary legacy, making it the perfect spot for Dracula enthusiasts and anyone looking for something a little different. We can’t wait to visit Whitby Crown Bar ourselves.
