“The names Bond, James Bond. Pint of Landlord please” has a nice right to it and as Daniel Craig comes to the end of his tenure as James Bond one of Yorkshire’s own is in the top five favourites to take on the prestigious role.
James Norton, who is known for shows such as Happy Valley along with Oscar-nominated films Little Women and An Education, is the third favourite to take the place of Bond, according to William Hill.
Malton lad, Norton has odds of 4/1 to play 007, standing on the shoulder of giants such as Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig to become the eighth actor to take on the career-defining role.
This is not the first time he’s been mentioned in the list of actors to replace Craig. Back in 2020, he was the odds-on favourite to replace Craig with William Hill giving him odds of 2 to 1.
Based on the novels written by Ian Fleming, 007 has become an established part of pop culture. Known as a suave and sophisticated 00 agent working for M15. He has an array of gadgets, loves a martini and is known as a lady’s man.
Craig took over the role back in 2005 and has featured in five James Bond films during his tenure as James Bond.
James Norton would be stepping into some big shoes if he was to take over from Craig, who brought a new depth to the character during his time. Norton has stiff competition for the role as Henry Cavill is the current favourite with 2 to1 odds, with Luke Evans at 4/1 and Norton just behind.
