If there were two things beginning with D that I loved the most, it’d be dogs, and donuts. I know, that could have gone in a whole different direction that’s definitely not appropriate for this website, but in a bid to swiftly distract you from that, I’ll go back to the dogs and donuts.
Combining the two things in one event, donutiers Doe Bakehouse has cooked up the perfect class for those who fancy doing something a little different with their weekend: doggy life drawing.
Kicking off with a successful first event just this past weekend at the Layerthorpe bakery in York, Doe Bakehouse has promised that a second class is on its way, with more dogs and donuts for locals to enjoy.

Run by expert dog artist Liah from Dog Life Drawing, guests are treated to a donut and a coffee as part of the class, before sitting down to sketch multiple gorgeous dogs in a variety of mediums including charcoal, marker pen, pencil, and more.
All abilities are welcome to join the class, and thankfully, there’s no show and tell at the end if you’re there just for fun – meaning you can express yourself through art as badly as you’d like without judgment when you’re finished.
If that wasn’t all, guests are also able to pet the dogs after the class, which, if you ask me, is the real highlight of the event (alongside the delicious donuts).
Here’s a little preview of the wholesome class:
Tickets for the event cost just £15 per person, including a donut, a coffee, access to the class and all of the materials, and you can keep up with Doe’s latest events over on their website here.
Doe Bakehouse operates in numerous locations across the North, including York, Layerthorpe and Clitheroe. All events, however, are run from their Layerthorpe venue – with an array of events including kids decorating classes, pottery classes and so much more regularly planned.
The bakery has become well-known on social media for their Insta-worthy donuts, which change regularly with different flavours and toppings.
