This Yorkshire Chef Has Taken Home The Title Of Curry King At Asian Curry Awards 2023

Yorkshire pulled in a few wins at the Asian Curry Awards this weekend with some of its top restaurants scooping awards. But, it was one special West Yorkshire chef that took home the title of ‘Curry King’ at the awards held in London on Sunday 19th November.

The Asian Curry Awards 2023 covers a range of Asian cuisines including: Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

And the winners were named at a gala dinner and presentation ceremony hosted by the BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds, at the Grosvenor House in London on November 19th Sunday. West Yorkshire’s Asian Restaurant of the year went to International Restaurant located on Sticker Lance and Morley Street in Bradford.

In North Yorkshire Jaipur Spice in York took home to title of Asian Restaurant of the Year for the area. And, we are excited to add these to our list of places to visit! It’s our favourite thing about these awards, giving us an idea where to try.

The big winner of the night for Yorkshire was Junior Rashid of Lala’s Leeds Bradford. Posting to their socials about the win they said: “Following his triumphant recognition as the Game Changer at the Bradford Curry Awards last summer, along with Best Asian restaurant in the North of England, and the Best in Leeds, Junior Rashid has once again etched his name in curry history by claiming the coveted title of Curry King at the national Asian Curry Awards in London!

“Junior would like to acknowledge and thank all of our loyal customers as it wouldn’t be possible without them and to the best team at all of the restaurants!”
