A North Yorkshire restaurant has been crowned AA Restaurant of the Year England at one of the biggest nights in the UK hospitality calendar.
The Star Inn at Harome, in North Yorkshire, picked up the prestigious award at the AA Hospitality Awards 2026, which took place at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London on Monday 21 September.
The annual black-tie event brings together some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry, with close to 1,000 chefs, hoteliers, restaurateurs, suppliers and media attending this year’s ceremony.
The awards celebrate some of the country’s leading restaurants, hotels and hospitality professionals, with winners announced across a range of categories.
Writing on Instagram following the ceremony, the AA Hospitality Awards said: “We’re delighted to crown @thestarinnatharome in North Yorkshire as our AA Restaurant of the Year England. Congratulations to @pern.andrew, @chefstephensmith and the team.”
The win is another major achievement for chef and restaurateur Andrew Pern, who has run The Star Inn at Harome since 1996.
The historic thatched pub and restaurant was devastated by a fire in November 2021 before reopening a year later following a major rebuild. Its Michelin star was subsequently restored, and it has continued to attract diners from across the country to the North Yorkshire village.
The Star Inn at Harome wasn’t the only Yorkshire establishment to receive recognition at this year’s awards.
The Black Swan at Oldstead, North Yorkshire, was named AA Sustainable Restaurant of the Year, recognising its approach to environmentally responsible hospitality and its farm-to-table philosophy.
Meanwhile, The Penny Bun in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, was named AA Inn of the Year.
There was also recognition for Yorkshire’s hospitality talent in the AA’s new Rosette awards. Restaurant Elm in Sheffield was among the restaurants awarded a new three AA Rosette rating.
Elsewhere, six restaurants were awarded four AA Rosettes, including Frog by Adam Handling in London, Hide and Fox in Kent, Ikoyi in London, Inver in Scotland, LI~LY by Aiden Byrne in Knutsford and The Cocochine in London. No restaurant was awarded a new five AA Rosette rating this year.
