Pizza, oh pizza – how we love you! And you don’t need to go all the way to Italy these days to enjoy some of the best. You don’t even need to leave the county with God’s Own Country being home to some of the best pizza in the UK, according to The Times. From Neapolitan to New York styles, these guys have hunted down some of the best pizza in the country and some of Yorkshire’s finest have made the list.
We are fiends for pizza at The Yorkshireman and are always on the hunt for the next slice. So, it was great to see some of our favourite finds in the top 50 list curated by The Times. One of the top ones for us was the hidden gem up in the Yorkshire Dales that we found after some research – and now it seems that the secret is out.
Hidden away behind a renowned cheesemonger’s shop in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales is a culinary gem known as Rind. Tucked away in the charming village of Austwick, this pizzeria is a delightful find for both locals and travellers alike.
Situated discreetly behind the bustling cheese shop at the Courtyard Dairy, Rind offers a unique take on the traditional Italian dish of pizza, infusing it with a distinct Great British flair. What sets this establishment apart is its ingenious use of locally sourced British cheeses, adding a delicious twist to every slice.
Next was Dough Eyed, run by friends of The Yorkshireman Adam Gardener and Chris Phillips, serving up some of the best pizza in this historic city. The menu is packed full of flavourful dishes, and while we love a classic, our favourite had to be the n’duja pizza with a pumpkin base. The leopard print crust and tantalising tastes had us preparing for the next bite after each one.
The venue has kept up with its talent for selecting the best craft ales around, serving up local Yorkshire favourites as well as others that you can select from their beer menu up on the screen. After all, what’s a pizza without a tasty refreshing beer?

And the other one on the list was one that we’ve not managed to get to but have heard amazing things about: Cresci, located in York on Piccadilly. We’ve heard they are a firm favourite with locals in York. So, we’ll have to bump this one up the list and make sure we get to it sooner rather than later, as we are sure their bookings are set to be packed after featuring in this list.
Make sure you check these guys out, as all the above sling a nice slice of pizza. And it seems that York is about to become the Yorkshire home of the Neapolitan pizza as the amazing Rudy’s, hailing from Manchester, is set to open its doors soon.
