Guinness has unveiled its first-ever Guinness Harp Guide, an annual list celebrating the pubs that pour outstanding pints and act as true pillars of their communities across the UK and Ireland.
The guide highlights venues that consistently serve exceptional Guinness, recognising not only quality but the atmosphere, heritage and hospitality that make a pub feel like home.
And Yorkshire has plenty to be proud of, with two local favourites securing a place on the inaugural list.
Whitelock’s Ale House in Leeds, known as the city’s oldest pub and packed with historic charm, was named among the top spots. Joining it is The Dog & Partridge in Sheffield, a well-loved traditional pub with a loyal following and a reputation for a top-tier pint of the black stuff. And, also The Grapes, Sheffield another local gem.
The Harp Guide is expected to become a yearly celebration of the best places to enjoy Guinness, shining a light on the establishments that keep the pub culture thriving.
Whitelocks celebrates its appearance with a reel showcasing their lovely pint with a caption that reads: “We’re one of just 35 pubs in the UK to make Guinness’ brand new harp guide! The Harp Guide is the official @guinnessgb guide to the best Guinness in the UK, we’re the only pub in Leeds and just one of three in Yorkshire! So if you’re after a perfect pint of the black stuff… you know where to find us.”
Dog and Patridridge also celebrated with a great post writing: “We’re thrilled to announce (officially this time) that @guinnessgb have invited us to be part of the very first Guinness Harp Guide, and we happily accepted! We’re one of only 36 pubs in Britain to be included in a celebration of the very best pubs that serve #guinness, so it’s a huge honour to be part of it. To have our commitment to pouring the creamiest pints recognised is class and we can’t wait to get our wee plaque up on the front of the pub!
GRMA, @guinnessgb“
