Bob Mortimer & Paul Whitehouse Spotted In Yorkshire Market Town Filming New Series

Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer have been spotted out and about filming for the latest series of Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing. The pair stopped in for a coffee at a popular shop in the market town of Driffield in East Yorkshire before a day of filming for the fifth series.

The show, which has grown a huge following, first aired back in 2018, and quickly became very popular. The show started as a way for Paul to help Bob with his recovery after his heart surgery. The show follows the funny duo as they visit various beautiful fishing spots in the UK. They chat about life-affirming topics, as well as sharing their usually comedic outlooks on life while they try to land a catch.

Kinship coffee shop owner, Tom Watson, was surprised to find the stars of the show in his coffee shop this morning (May 15th), said: “Paul said he’s always wanted to fish Driffield Beck as it’s the most northerly chalk stream in Europe. He knew his stuff!”

“And Bob was chuckling at a John Robert Mortimer leaflet I had up on the notice board and asked if he could take it; of course, I said yes!”

Driffield Beck is the most important of the chalk streams in the eastern Wolds, the most northerly point on the planet where alkaline aquifer-fed rivers exist. Driffield West Beck, as it is sometimes otherwise known, rises as a spring at Elmswell in the foothills of the Yorkshire Wolds. Driffield Beck has a significant place in fly fishing history and is famous for trout fishing.

This isn’t the first time the pair have been spotted fishing in Yorkshire, back in 2020 they visit the Yorkshire coastline destination – which is also one of the largest fishing ports in the North East. You can enjoy discovering some amazing views, or take a walk through the village and take in the 18th-century cottages. The show showcases the Transporter Bridge and The Crathorne Arms, as well as the beautiful harbour of Staithes.
