Channel 5’s ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ Renewed For 7th & 8th Series

We’ve loved the latest series of Channel 5’s hit show All Creatures Great and Small. Being transported to the Dales in the 1940s every week soothes the soul. It’s the wholesome show everyone needs to get into, and we’re thrilled that two more series have now been confirmed for the beloved drama.

Inspired by the works of James Herriot (aka Alf Wight), which follow the veterinary practice at Skeldale House in rural Yorkshire, All Creatures Great and Small will return for a 7th and 8th series, plus two more Christmas specials. It’s no surprise, as the feel-good series remains Channel 5’s most successful drama to date. It has reached up to 14 million viewers across the first five series and continues to be the channel’s number one drama year after year.

But before all that excitement, we have a Christmas special at Skeldale House to look forward to—and it looks set to be a merry one, with this series celebrating the end of the war. Spirits are sure to be high. A highlight for us this year was Tristan’s new love interest, played by Gaia Wise, daughter of Dame Emma Thompson, who stars as Charlotte Beauvoir.

Details for the next series are sure to be announced soon, but until then, let’s enjoy the festive season with our favourite cast members: James (Nicholas Ralph), Helen (Rachel Shenton), Siegfried (Samuel West), Tristan (Callum Woodhouse) and Mrs Audrey Hall (Anna Madeley).

Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5, said: “All Creatures Great and Small is a jewel in 5’s drama crown and continues to delight viewers year after year. Its warmth, humour and heart, set against the beauty of Yorkshire, have made it a firm audience favourite. We’re thrilled to extend its future with two more series, with many new stories still to tell and more unforgettable adventures ahead for our Skeldale family.”

Melissa Gallant and Sharon Moran, joint Executive Producers for Playground, added: “We frequently receive letters from viewers about how the show has brought joy, comfort and relief in challenging times. Making television that has that effect, and is beloved around the world year after year, is the greatest privilege. We’re thrilled to be continuing the All Creatures journey with Channel 5, Masterpiece on PBS and All3Media International into series 7 and 8. It’s a show people love to watch and love to make, and we can’t wait for more adventures in beautiful Yorkshire with our wonderful cast and crew.”
