In a heartwarming story dog owner, Sarah Keith wanted to give her dog the best last walk ever after her dog was diagnosed with oral cancer.
After Sarah’s 12-year-old dog, Ella was diagnosed with cancer, determined to give her pooch the best last walk ever Sarah took to social media to organise her pet’s last walk. And got an amazing response.
Posting to social media, Sarah Wrote: “It’s with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Ella has been diagnosed with oral cancer. She is being put to sleep on Monday late afternoon.
“I would love to organise one last run for her on the beach at Fraisthorpe, on Monday, before she makes her final journey. She’s a collie, and she loves to run with other dogs.
“She’s been restricted somewhat in recent years as I’ve tried to protect as much as possible from the wear and tear and worsening of her arthritis. Now it doesn’t matter. I’d love for her to go out with a bang.
“Please join us on the beach if you can for our rainbow walk. 12pm.”
The post was shared over one thousand times and received over 800 likes, which shows that it touched the heartstrings of people and it showed as there was a fantastic turnout for her last dog walk.
Fraisthorpe, near Bridlington, is a popular dog walker’s beach in East Yorkshire and also Ella’s favourite beach. The BBC reported that the day was amazing with Kieth describing it as the “best day for her, the worst for me.”
She continued: “All these people turned out with their dogs… It was amazing.”
As she watched Ella play with other dogs, Ms Keith added: “She is in her element. She has forgotten I’m even here.”
