A Brilliant Drive-In Cinema Is Coming To Leeds This Summer

Taking social distancing to a whole new level, Edward Street Car Park in Leeds is set to be transformed into an uber-cool drive-in cinema – just like the ones in the movies.

Bringing the classics to the big screen, guests will be able to kick back to a film (that isn’t on a tiny laptop screen) and enjoy their favourites, with four nights of safe entertainment planned from July 30.

Here’s the full schedule:

Thursday July 30: Grease
Friday July 31: Back To The Future
Saturday August 1: Toy Story
Saturday August 1: Joker
Sunday August 2: The Lion King
Sunday August 2: A Star Is Born

In addition to the films, each event will include other entertainment, such as bingo and stand-up comedy, and guests will be able to purchase food and snacks on-site, which will be dropped off outside their car so they can collect them without the need for contact.

Speaking of the facilities, The Drive In has said: “Cars parked over two metres apart provide naturally built-in social distancing and entry will be via license plate checking, meaning no interaction between staff and guests is necessary.

“Toilet facilities and strict hygiene measures in line with government guidelines will ensure a safe environment for all, providing not only a coronavirus-proof way of going out, but a rare opportunity to bring back a few hours of normal life.”

Tickets cost £38.50 per car, and tickets can be purchased here.
