1. Spuds & Berries

Spuds and Berries is a pick-your-own farm shop featuring a butchers, deli, and dairy counters. Found on Hull Road near Selby, the farm shop offers all of your typical locally sourced produce – from oils and condiments to fresh veggies, fruit, meat and sweet treats, alongside a cafe serving up dishes from burgers and sandwiches to Sunday roasts.
The venue is under new management, so changes may be made in the coming months to their current offering, but for now, you can still enjoy their Friday evening restaurant and daytime offering as before.

2. Mainsgill Farm Shop, Richmond

Situated 4.5 miles west of Scotch Corner, adjacent to the main Trans-Pennine route, Mainsgill Farm Shop in Richmond is the perfect stop-off. Housed within a stunning barn-like building, the huge farm shop is not only home to an epic food hall where you can buy tons of fresh, local produce, but also a butchery, gift shop, clothing shop and a tearoom.
Their home-reared meats take centre stage in the food hall; however, guests can also make a day of it and enjoy freshly made cakes and treats, proper Yorkshire breakfasts and more.

3. Beadlam Grange Farmshop and Tea Room

Found on the outskirts of Helmsley in North Yorkshire, Beadlam Grange Farm Shop breeds its own award-winning Limousin beef cattle and loves to share its passion for providing real, honest, tasty and feel-good food.
Stocking home-reared meats, farm-fresh milk, homemade cakes and bakes and seasonal produce, the shop is the perfect place to pick up some great quality fodder and has a bistro attached where you can try out their incredible cruffins, farmhouse breakfasts, cream teas and more. You can even see some of the farm animals while you’re there.

4. The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Cafe

On the outskirts of Stamford Bridge, The Balloon Tree Farmshop & Cafe serves up a range of local produce on the 28-acre farm, where you can also enjoy pick-your-own strawberries and pumpkins.
The farm shop is small but mighty, with tons of fruit and veg, farm-fresh meats and a great bakery counter, too. We particularly love their beautifully curated gift selection.
The cafe is a popular spot locally, thanks to its delicious breakfast menu, including proper full English, breakfast sandwiches and more, alongside ever-changing specials created using what’s in season.

5. Fodder, Harrogate

Stocking produce created by over 430 farmers, Fodder doesn’t do things by halves when it comes to supporting Yorkshire’s agricultural producers. Their extensive farm shop is filled to the brim with fresh fruit and veg, locally made oils, jarred goods, fresh meat, baked goods, chocolate, and so much more, making it a one-stop shop for high-quality goods.
The farm shop is also home to a great cafe with a large sun-soaked terrace outside, where guests can enjoy homemade dishes with a Yorkshire flair, from Sunday roasts and breakfasts, to Yorkshire pudding burgers and even afternoon tea. Our favourite is the wagyu burger and the proper Yorkshire brekky.

6. Yolk, Boroughbridge

One of the best farm shops in North Yorkshire, Yolk can be found near Thirsk and Boroughbridge, offering a great family day out.
Home to not only a fantastic farm shop and kitchen, but a play barn, too, kids can be kept entertained for quite some time, thanks to the open nature of the farm where you can see pigs, chickens and more, before experiencing the ‘world’s first’ egg restaurant.
Yolk Farm Kitchen produces some fantastic dishes, including their huge breakfasts and our favourite, the “What Came First” chicken pancakes. If brunch isn’t your thing, there’s also pizza on offer.
Dogs are welcome, and there’s even a doggy pick-n-mix inside the quaint farm shop.

Farm Shops in West Yorkshire
7. Broster’s Farm Shop, Huddersfield

Renowned for its meats reared in Lindley Moor, Broster’s is a fantastic spot to pick up field-to-fork produce from their butchery, including beef, lamb, chicken and pork.
Their freshly baked pies and pastries are a sight to behold, too, with fantastic pork pies, sausage rolls and more.
Elsewhere at Broster’s, guests can dine on large breakfasts, Ploughman’s platters, pies, paninis and more, with a surprisingly large kids’ menu available, too (super helpful for the picky kids among us!).

8. Blacker Hall Farm Shop, Wakefield

Found in Wakefield, Blacker Hall Farm Shop serves fresh, seasonal and local produce sourced from the farm, with items from other great local farmers and producers, too. Whether you fancy a bite to eat from the restaurant or a peruse around their fantastic farm shop, it’s a great stop-off when travelling along the A636.
Blacker Hall prides itself on low food miles, so you can expect fresh grub when buying and dining, with dishes such as proper fish and chips, their 3oz burger, catch of the day and even a Sunday roast on the menu to tempt you.

9. Robertshaw’s Farm Shop, Bradford

Run by third and fourth-generation farmers James and Harley Robertshaw, Robertshaw’s is a working sheep farm with over 200 sheep, with an animal croft on-site so you can meet the animals yourself.
Keeping it local, the farm shop works with over 400 Yorkshire producers to stock the shop, providing the best possible produce for customers to enjoy. Even local Indian restaurant Aagrah is in on the action, stocking a range of delicious curries that fans can enjoy at home.
There’s even an on-site bakery cafe, too, where guests can enjoy scones, cakes and tarts, alongside all-day breakfast and pies, while watching the bakery team at work through the viewing window. The family also owns Robertshaw’s Farm Shop in Skipton.

10. Farmer Copley’s Farm Shop

This farm shop in West Yorkshire has won many awards in its time, proving so successful that it has had to expand over the years.
Today, Farmer Copley’s is a fantastic family-friendly experience, offering pick-your-own sunflowers and pumpkins events, food festivals, dog shows and more, alongside their fantastic Moo Cafe and farm shop.
The farm rears its own beef; however, it also works alongside a wide array of local suppliers to stock the best of the best in their shops. If they can’t make it themselves, and only if, Farmer Copley’s will source from another talented, local producer.
The shop itself is huge, with tons of amazing produce to peruse, a fantastic bakery section, a gelato counter, a deli, and much more. You could certainly spend a long time in here.
At the cafe, expect all the farm shop classics, including homemade burgers, pies, jacket potatoes and even steak.

11. Hinchcliffe’s Farm Shop, Huddersfield

Britain’s oldest farm shop can be found in Huddersfield, set up in 1929 by Allen Hinchliffe. Fast approaching its 50th birthday, Hinchliffe’s, as you’d expect, is one of the best farm shops in the region, with a huge, supermarket-sized store packed full of incredible produce, including their famous eggs.
The butchery stocks beef reared on the farm, too, while at the farm shop, you can purchase bread and cakes made in-house daily, fine wines (there’s a whole wall full of the stuff), Hinchliffe’s famous pork pies, and so much more.
The Rusty Bull restaurant on-site has made a name for itself, too, pairing their field-to-plate ethos with elevated dishes such as gourmet burgers, surf n turf, pork tomahawk steak and a belter of a Sunday roast – all served alongside a great cocktail menu. This isn’t just any farm shop.

12. Farm Shop at Cranswick

Found in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, Cranswick Farm Shop is a favourite here at The Yorkshireman, thanks to its concise selection of fantastic local produce. Traceability is at the heart of everything stocked in-store, so you can guarantee that you’ll leave with only local produce.
The shop offers all of your typical fruits and veggies, alongside a great deli counter, cakes, bakes, pies and more made fresh in-house, alongside local gifts, chutneys, oils, sauces and sweet treats.
The cafe is a popular local spot, with fantastic breakfasts, great Sunday roasts and even posh fish finger sandwiches and build-your-own burgers.

13. The Mile Farm Shop, Pocklington

A hidden gem in the town of Pocklington, just a short drive from York, The Mile Farm Shop is a lovely little shop for picking up essentials – from eggs, meat and dairy, to cakes, veggies and even hampers.
Starting life as two brick huts on a former pig farm, the shop has grown over the years due to demand, and today is not only home to the shop, but a play park, a dog park and a cafe.
Expect Yorkshire portions, with large breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches and even handmade pizzas on offer.

14. Drewton’s Farm Shop & Kitchen

Located on the Drewton Estate in East Yorkshire, this lovely farm shop sells tons of fresh seasonal produce, as you’d expect from a farm shop, alongside a number of fantastic gifts and homeware, too.
A lot of their stock is produced on the estate – including pheasant, partridge and duck at the butchers, fruits and more, with their own ranges of pantry goods, ready meals, and other goodies made on-site.
Our favourite part, however, is the lovely restaurant next door, where you can enjoy fantastic breakfasts, succulent grilled meat dishes, classics such as fish and chips, and modern favourites like gyros and steak burgers.
The restaurant sits on the site of a former Roman-era kitchen, which fed the community back when even Jesus was alive. Cool, huh?

15. Sledmere Farm Shop, Sledmere

Found in the quaint village of Sledmere – which is owned by the estate, too – Sledmere House is so much more than a farm shop, but the farm shop is worth a visit, nonetheless.
Sledmere House is a Grade I listed Georgian country house which you can tour, with an adventure playground, farm park, a deer walk and more on-site.
At the farm shop, visitors can expect a selection of seasonal produce with fruit and veg often from their walled garden, with tons of cool, rare treats, too (dark chocolate Tunnocks teacakes, as an example!). Next door, you’ll find the Coach House Cafe, serving artisan-style breakfasts and classic mains such as Whitby scampi, jacket potatoes, sandwiches and an array of great ever-changing specials.

Farm Shops in South Yorkshire
16. Cannon Hall Farm Shop, Barnsley

Known for their popular Channel 5 show This Week On The Farm, Cannon Hall Farm is a destination in its own right – with tons of activities for families, including farm visits, soft play, a reptile house, adventure playgrounds, and, of course, a great farm shop for the grown-ups to enjoy.
The farm shop has grown from its humble beginnings as a small butchers, today, selling everything from preserves and ready meals to cookware and baked goods. Expect bread and pies made in-house fresh, meat reared on the farm and vegetables sourced as locally as possible. For the sweet tooth among us, there’s even a chocolate shop.
Cannon Hall Farm is home to two restaurants – The White Bull and the Lucky Pup (their dog-friendly cafe) – where guests can enjoy meals made using their farm shop’s produce, including breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers and hearty dishes such as toad in the hole, lasagne and steak pies.
